Ca. 1920’s EXTREMELY RARE ENGLISH “GIANT” CI TOY CAP PISTOL, MASSIVE 17.3 OZ.

Original circa 1920’s very rare & massive English “Giant” cast iron toy cap pistol. This astonishing & impressive cap pistol weighs in at an amazing 17.3 ounces!!!!!
It is marked “Giant” (a very fitting name) on both sides of the grip with the maker’s initial of a raised “G” in an oval in the casting also on both sides of the grip. We do not know the name of the maker that the “G” stands for. But, this marking indicates an English company based on other English marked examples of English toy cap pistols which we have which also have this letter “G”.
This toy cap pistol is not listed & not shown in the first 1973 book “Cast Iron Toy Pistols 1870-1940” by Charles Best. A later edition of the cap pistol book by Logan and Best was put out in 1990. This very rare English “Giant” cap pistol is listed as "English5" & shown in the second edition on page 219.
Our example has the word “GIANT” in large letters in the casting on both sides & a “G” in the casting on both sides. Both sides have a checkered grip.
This toy cap pistol measures a whopping 8 5/8 inches long by 4 inches tall by 1 1/4 inches across the cylinder. The weight is an amazing 17.3 ounces (1 pound 1.3 ounces). There are no cracks, & no chips, & no repairs. The hammer functions solidly & correctly. The cap pistol is in working condition.
The toy cap pistol is complete in all respects & all of the components present are original including the rivets. Note: the rivets on this & most other English toy cap pistols are usually larger than their American counterparts. The vast majority of the original bright nickel plating is present & is intermingled with some minor wear & a lovely patina from age.
There is a some rust in the area where the caps were popped & on the bottom of the hammer. The toy appears to have never been cleaned & we have left it just as found. The toy has never been taken apart & it has not been tampered with in any way.
This is, most assuredly, one of the rarest & most massive toy cap pistols ever made! It completely & absolutely dwarfs 99.9% of all other cast iron toy cap pistols ever produced! Essentially a major & impressive rarity in a totally massive size!!! It is astonishing to find this rarity in such beautiful condition!!!
